Overview
Ana Mayordomo is an elite professional submission grappler and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt. Utilizing her dual citizenship to secure major titles across multiple continents, Mayordomo exploded onto the international black belt circuit in 2025, rapidly cementing her status as one of the sport’s premier featherweight athletes.
Early Life and Transition to Jiu-Jitsu
Ana Mayordomo was born in Zaragoza, Spain, in June 2000, where she spent her early childhood. In 2013, her family relocated to Denver, Colorado, after her father accepted a job offer in the United States. Growing up in Spain, Ana was highly active in extracurricular sports like tennis and basketball—even playing on a boys’ basketball team due to the lack of a local girls’ squad.
On December 12, 2016, three years after moving to the U.S., her boyfriend convinced her to try a Jiu-Jitsu class at the Easton Training Center. She felt an immediate connection to the sport and competed in her first tournament just three months later.
Balancing Academics and Elite Competition
Under the guidance of instructor Eliot Marshall, Ana managed a highly successful competitive career while simultaneously excelling in her academics. She earned a full-ride merit scholarship and completed three bachelor’s degrees in computer science and marketing in just four years.
Following her graduation, Marshall encouraged her to pursue grappling full-time. She attended a transformative three-week training camp in Austin, Texas, with John Danaher’s New Wave workgroup, which convinced her to relocate to the Lone Star State permanently.
Injury and Triumphant Return
Despite a severe injury that sidelined her for nearly a year shortly after her move to Texas, Ana made a triumphant return to the mats. She won the IBJJF No-Gi Pan Championship as a brown belt and was promoted to black belt right on the podium, carrying that immense momentum directly into a dominant rookie campaign in the black belt divisions.
