Matt Serra is a 5th degree black belt under Renzo Gracie and the first American to receive his black belt from Gracie in 2000. A former UFC Welterweight Champion who famously defeated Georges St-Pierre in one of MMA’s biggest upsets at UFC 69, Serra also holds an ADCC silver medal and was The Ultimate Fighter 4 winner. A New York-born product of the Renzo Gracie Academy, he has continued the tradition by running Serra BJJ in Garden City, NY, where he trains and develops the next generation of fighters. He was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.
