Biography & Martial Arts Journey

Andrew began his formal grappling education in 2011 under the respected tutelage of Edson Carvalho, building a rigorous, well-rounded physical base in both Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This multi-disciplinary foundation developed his early understanding of standard leverage, throwing mechanics, and ground control systems.

In 2015, Andrew relocated to Connecticut to launch his professional career in law enforcement. Seeking to keep his skills sharp and continue his martial arts progression, he integrated into the regional training scene under the legendary Master Marcio Stambowski. Under Stambowski’s world-class oversight, Andrew spent years refining his defensive structures and competitive edge, culminating in his promotion to black belt on September 22, 2022.

As an active officer and high-level practitioner, Andrew bridges the gap between sport grappling and street survival. He heavily emphasizes control mechanics that protect both the officer and the subject, volunteering his expertise to guide others through technical development. Dedicated and always on the mat, Andrew leads by example with an enduring passion for both teaching and learning.
